Sam started planning his own retirement while he was still at high school, so no-one was surprised when he established Wallis-Smith Financial Planning at the age of 23.
A Certified Financial Planner™, Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Adelaide University) and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning . Sam is a member of the Financial Planning Association and has also served as a member of MLC’s National Advisory Board.
With more than 20 years’ experience under his belt, Sam has a wealth of knowledge to offer. He expertly guides Wallis-Smith Financial Planning clients in maximising income and Centrelink entitlements, while minimising taxation and investment risk. His passion for long-term planning drives his specialisation in retirement .
Sam’s strong personal commitment to client service led to the development of a highly qualified and professional team which includes his wife, Victoria Wallis-Smith.
Sam practices what he preaches when it comes to work/life balance, making time to coach junior sport, keep fit, and be actively involved in raising two primary school kids.
Advice Manager / Director
Victoria is an accomplished business director, project manager and civil engineer. She made financial planning a career in 2007 with a Diploma in Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Victoria was enjoying a successful career as a Chartered Civil Engineer and team leader at Adelaide firm, Tonkin Consulting, when she took a career break to have their first child. During this time of change, Victoria made the transition into finance, where her wealth of experience working on major projects, combined with her outstanding attention to detail, made her a natural for financial services.
After initially joining Wallis-Smith Financial Planning as business manager, Victoria decided to broaden her diverse knowledge base to include formal financial planning qualifications. Victoria and Sam now have a successful working and personal partnership.
Victoria believes her combined work and life experience, as a consultant, team leader and mum of two, provide an invaluable insight into problem solving and a keen ability to look at the bigger picture. Her breadth of perspective enables her to see through the clutter and bring clarity and focus to complex problems.
A self-confessed holiday magazine addict and daily visitor to realestate.com, Victoria loves nothing better than an enthusiastic discussion about travel and home improvement goals.
Client Services Manager
As Client Services Manager, Julie works closely with clients, making sure everything happens smoothly and everyone is kept up to date. In short, Julie knows how to get things done.
Julie has an impressive career history in financial services, and it was in one of her previous roles that she made her ‘big impression’ on both Sam and Victoria. Her professional approach, outstanding work ethic and attention to detail were so memorable, for Sam and Victoria it meant only one thing – they wanted her on their team.
At Wallis-Smith Financial Planning, Julie’s role ensures your financial plan will be implemented seamlessly. This includes setting up new financial products, liasing with all stakeholders, and keeping you informed.
Julie sits in on many client appointments, and will often be your first port of call when you contact the office.
Client Services Manager
Such is our commitment to client service, we have not one, but two dedicated Client Services Managers. With more than 10 years of experience in client services roles, Leonie is an exceptional asset to our team.
Leonie holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and has an outstanding work ethic.But it is her empathy for clients and her ability to form strong, meaningful connections that makes her a stand out success in this role.
Leonie’s commitment to clients is evident in her manner and rapport within the team and with all clients. Like Julie, Leonie will keep you informed on the progress of any changes, and give you a gentle reminder if there are steps you need to take along the way.
Sam and Victoria first connected with Carmen when she held a role with their Licensee, Garvan Financial Planning. When Carmen demonstrated her exceptional ability to deliver better client outcomes through improved systems and processes, they were determined to have Carmen as part of their hand-picked, professional team.
Carmen holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services and has a wealth of experience working with financial planning businesses and brings the best of these skills to Wallis-Smith Financial Planning.
Although clients don’t see much of Carmen, she fulfils a key role in ensuring the business runs smoothly and that we maintain our focus on great client service and outcomes, and importantly Carmen frees up Sam and Victoria to spend more time with clients.
